The End Of NaNoWriMo and Good (Unrelated) News!

Total words written in November: 18,681.

Well, I failed NaNoWriMo. Pretty spectacularly, too. But that’s okay. I have nearly 20,000 words I like, and I feel like I understand my protagonists much better than I did a month ago.

So, work will continue on the novel, around some other commitments.

Which leads me to…

GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE!

Remember that week in October I spent developing a theoretical television concept? No? You can read about it here and here. To summarise, my producer and I were accepted into an initiative by my state government film funding and support body to develop a television concept with two very experienced and talented producing and writing mentors. While I went in with a completely different concept, I was encouraged by my mentors to attempt to adapt The Edge Of The Woods, so we ran with that. It was a tough week, but we came out with something that we all felt sounded really exciting.

And the judging panel agreed! So I’m being given some money to write a pilot script.

How cool is that?

Now I just need to figure out how time management works…
